There are small differences between our apparatus - vertical static pendulum - and tiltmeters. Our apparatus has vertical baseline and strainmeters, tiltmeters and long-base interferometers have horizontal baseline. Therefore, our apparatus is sensitive mostly to changes of horizontal stress. We clearly measure tidal tilts, which is in agreement with theory, but the diurnal thermoelastic variations are of the same or larger amplitude (before earthquakes).
