Earthquake and Tectonic Plate Movement Book Finally Published – August 3, 2012 A book that I mentioned in past EarthWaves board posts has finally been published. And I have a copy. The primary author is European geophysicist Dr. Pavel Kalenda who in the past posted notes to this EarthWaves board. Other authors are Liber Newman et al. There might be 10 to 12 authors in total. It represents a lot of work by quite a few scientists. Its title is: Tilts, Global Tectonics and Earthquake Prediction The publishing group is the World Organization For Scientific Cooperation, Science Without Borders, in Europe. Their Web address is: http://www.wosco.org Roger's Earthquake Probability Estimator computer programs is referenced in the book. The listed address for it is http://www.tarma.com However, I don't see it there. Some of my work is referenced as well. I don't know if copies of the book can be purchased or if and when the book will be available for view through that Web site and am trying to get some information regarding those things. Not being a geologist I can't be certain of the following. But I suspect that this book might quickly become an important reference book for geologists around the world. In addition to discussing earthquake forecasting the book does detailed analyses of the various theories for why tectonic plates move relative to one another. And the theory that it proposes is the correct one is different from any theory that I have ever seen proposed in the past. I am planning to try to discuss some of the details of that theory in a future EarthWaves post if and when there is time and if I can get permission to do that. It is a fairly complex.
