Thanks Penny; I forwarded that to a couple of geologists/seismologists working on active faults, and the graduate student who is putting his thesis in the library today, on the near offshore between Long Beach and San Diego. There are systems of faults there that include the nearshore Newport-Inglewood-Rose Canyon fault, that intersect at depth, which logically could rupture together, depending on how they intersect at depth.
