In recent weeks I was hiking in the Santa Ana mountains east of LA. Beautiful views. Beautiful flora and fauna. Beautiful geology.

Anyway, I found myself a fault line which exhibited slickenside. Of course I had my rock hammer with me and took a sample.

For those unaware, slickenside is the smoothly polished surface of rock caused by the movement of a fault.
