M6.9 off East coast Honshu

There was a M6.9 off the east coast of northern Honshu, with a 6.1 aftershock. It is east of the trench, so not on the subduction zone. There, after the M9, you might expect a normal fault earthquake with extension perpendicular to trench. This is because the coeanic plate is expected to stretch. Well, it was normal, but the extension was N-S. we'll see what other solutions are when they are posted. I'll read Penny's link now.
