I remember driving along the coast so many times. Just south of Carpinteria, the anticline just dips right into the ocean, and you can follow structure from the alignment of the offshore oil platforms. There is, as I recall, a distinct different antiformal structure in the channel off Goleta...bubbles with gas come up in that region. The last person I discussed this with was Helmut Ehrenspeck, RIP. Gotta drag out my old maps if I get the time/energy!

And it is strange about the lack of quakes in the area. I lived there nearly 40 years and went through a lot of swarms and one 5 plus...but that has been about it.
