Earthquake Precursor Projects – January 12, 2012

There are two Earthquake Precursor projects being developed through my new Web site.

1. Developing an Earthquake Precursor CGI data collection, evaluation, and display program that would run at a Web site.

2. Storing lists of Earthquake Precursors and along with detailed descriptions of some of them at my Web site.

The Earthquake Precursors list project has not really gotten moving so far. There hasn’t been time to start contacting people about it.

The CGI program is starting to take shape. Roger has a TrueBasic program now written that draws a world map and displays earthquakes on it. By using the mouse to click on an earthquake its location and magnitude data etc. are displayed for 5 seconds.

When that program gets sufficiently advanced it would need to be translated into an actual CGI program that will run at a Web site. TrueBasic programs won’t run on Web sites as far as I am aware.

One of the steps in getting a true CGI program developed will be to have people install and run the Xampp.exe program on their personal computers. That program enables the PC to behave like a Web site server computer. So, an HTML Web page with a data input screen on it can run on the PC. The user can enter some precursor data such as the time and location when an Earthquake Cloud is observed and then press the Submit Button.

The Web page will send those data to the Xampp program that will then transmit them to a simple Perl language program. That program will store the submitted data in computer files. And the TrueBasic program will be told to run. It will then plot the submitted data on the world map.

So, a true CGI program will not actually need to be developed for this shortcut step. But the entire operation will look like what the true Web site CGI program would be doing.

EarthWaves Comments

With many of the comments that are made regarding the posts that I store here, the authors are talking about apples and I am talking about oranges. Their comments don’t apply to my original post because they refer to a different subject.

For example,

Some people seem to think that I am attempting to get the U.S. government to develop my personal earthquake forecasting program. That isn’t the case.

I do want to try to get them to check into the nature of the EM Signals that I am working with and perhaps develop better and more accurate ways of detecting them. But I am mainly trying to get the government to stop insisting and even believing that “Earthquakes can’t be predicted.” And they need to start doing some research on a variety of forecasting technologies including Shan’s sun shadow based method.

Unfortunately, one of the problems here is the fact that many forecasters insist that their methods are the only ones that have any value. And every other forecasting technology should be ignored.

Competition like that is normal. But when it involves developing life saving technologies it can be quite destructive. Things don’t get done that should be getting done.

With another major problem, government officials and scientists are in my opinion so frightened about getting involved with any forecasting work that they have just shut their eyes and ears to anything said to them along those lines. And the insistence that only forecasts that have accurate time, location, and magnitude information attached to them is just another way of hiding from reality.

In fact, disaster mitigation groups would be delighted to simply have some Time Window data so that they could get started on preparing to respond to a destructive earthquake once it occurred. They would not originally need any location or magnitude data. But the government officials and scientists keep hiding from that reality and insisting that any forecast has to have all three of those types of data. They are just looking for some type of certainty so that they can protect themselves. In truth they are simply too lazy and unconcerned about the value of human life to learn how to deal with forecast data in a manner that won’t get them into trouble with the general public.

As I said in another post, a variety of procedures are being developed to get U.S. government officials and scientists to open their eyes and ears and do something. That previously discussed meeting that I had with my legal people earlier this month was just one of the steps in this process.

These are personal opinions.
