Re: Earthquake Triggering Processes – December 26, 2011 |
Once again Roger, In my opinion, you should just ignore all of the material that is being posted to this board about sun and moon effects on earthquake triggering. My own work is far more advanced than anything that is being discussed here. The following are a few details regarding the Earth, sun, and moon. You are already aware of most of them. Both the sun and the moon move from positions above very roughly 25 N to 25 S and then back again. The sun does this once each year. The moon does it once each month. And the moon also makes one complete revolution around the Earth roughly once each month. The Earth and sun get closer to one another and then more distant once a year. The Earth and moon get closer and then more distant I believe once a month. According to people posting notes to the astro bulletin boards, there are no official terms called “subsolar” or “sublunar.” And they said that if anyone wanted to use those terms in an unofficial manner for the places where lines drawn between the Earth and the moon and the Earth and the sun cross the surface of the Earth then that would not be a problem as they have no other official definition at the moment. Finally, something has to be the straw that “Breaks the camel’s back.” Regardless of how little force might be involved, earthquakes occur at the times that they occur for reasons. Many of the more powerful ones at least are not simply random events. This might not have been proven by any formal publications to date. But my own data and those of other researchers do show that this is the case. And, the evidence favors a sun and moon gravity connection. Ocean tides as you are aware are associated with the sun and moon gravity. Look at it like this, Determining how earthquakes are being triggered is something like opening a safe that has a combination lock on its door. If you dial in the right combination the door will open with ease. If you don’t have the right combination you will never open the door. Eventually after failing to open the door for years in a row you will likely get discouraged and state that “There is no correct combination. The door simply can’t be opened.” So far, most people checking on sun and moon connections with earthquake triggering times have simply been using the wrong “combination.” These are personal opinions.
