Request for Canie – December 27, 2011

Hi Canie,

Would you please remove the above post from this bulletin board or at least erase its contents? Its author used a personal name in it rather than the three letter code I use with my posts here.

This is I believe an introductory type of continuation of what that individual was attempting to do in the Newsgroups. And I believe that this is not only dangerous, but an infraction of your posting rules.

Remember that the science of forecasting earthquakes is controversial. And people tend to get agitated about forecasting discussions and do irrational things. By not using personal names it provides a type of buffer that keeps things from getting out of control.

Would you like it if people on the Internet were giving out your name, address, telephone number, and credit card information etc. etc.?

If you had children in your family (and I am not saying that I do), would you want them exposed to danger because someone wanted to silence you by threatening you by making various types of personal information about you available to everyone on the Internet.

There are more than enough erratic people out there on the Internet. And if a person encourages them to make trouble for someone else and then helps them to do that by providing personal details then some of those erratic people might do something that could get them into trouble with the law.

I expected that this particular individual would eventually get to the point where he would start doing this in this bulletin board. And I am truly amazed that you would allow him to start posting notes here again.
