If it displays properly, the chart below is a recent solar and geomagnetic storm warning picture from NOAA. And I suspect that some of the signal activity reported by the person you are discussing is related to the energy field activity displayed here.

What often happens is that people who have these abilities misinterpret the information they are detecting. And they can sound so ridiculous that no one pays any attention to them.

I saw a visitor counter on one of his Web pages. And if he has any of those "pay for visits" types of sponsorships linked with his site then he is probably making a few $. There were a lot of visits to his Web site! People enjoy reading about UFOs etc.
