There are tons of information out there on those nuclear plant problems. Below I am going to list the address for one report that I found particularly disturbing.

If enough people are interested then we might take some time and track down and list some of the Web sites etc. that are keeping current on this.

I myself have been getting most of the information from reports originally searched for using "Japan Earthquake."

THE LATEST ON THE DISASTER

If I understood things correctly from different reports, it sounds like the nuclear fuel in at least one of the reactors melted into a puddle of extremely hot radioactive material that then melted through the bottom of the metal reactor vessel. And its next barrier was a thick concrete containment vessel that generally represents the lowest protective layer of the reactor building.

It sounds like it has now melted through that containment vessel and is actually starting to travel into and through the soil below the power plant.

This is not my area of expertise. And I have to just guess regarding what might happen next.

The molten radioactive metal pool from the melted core would keep traveling downward into the Earth and generate radioactive steam as it encountered water or moist soil. Anything else would be melted or converted into gas.

Radioactive steam is now reportedly coming from under the plant.

If there is enough fuel it might just keep melting its way downward through any rock layers. When it hit an area of heavy moisture such as an underground aquifer it might start producing radioactive steam, gas, and hydrogen explosions that might go on indefinitely.

So, there would be massive amounts of radioactivity in the underground soil, dangerous levels of radiation spreading though underground water into wider and wider areas, and radiation spreading through the air around and away from the plant.
