The Kp index just jumped from green, Kp=2, all the way to top of scale, Kp=9, measured in 3 hour intervals. I think this is considered severe magnetic storm, next above major. Way back there used to be lots of discussion of magnetic storms influencing quakes. Casual observation through the last solar maximum and some analysis by Roger did not support this.
But, it has been so long since a severe storm (that I know of; I don't check the linked site that much), and the onset was sudden, it might be interesting to see if volcanic areas or high latitudes or whatever perk up. But don't hold your breath.
