Well, the excessive heat warnings on "Heartland City" have been continuous for about 2 weeks, maybe 3. It is 105 deg air temp right now. But, I am in Rhode Island on the ocean. But, there it is a rocky coast and there is not a single mussel over about 1 mm length. You eat them when the shell is about 2 cm or more. This is about the 5th straight year of no mussels here. We grew up picking and eating mussels as did the previous generations. The water is very warm. Save the Bay says Narragansett Bay is a couple of degrees F warmer than it used to be. Cycles or climate change? Working on resubmittal of proposal on Haiti: our group cut previous one in half and split the group as well as the science. Don't know if there will be any money for science after the budget agreement. Chris
