Roger,

You are missing the boat again.

This present thread has nothing to do with my own forecasting work. What I am proposing is that a Web site could be created that would be administered by the ISEP group. I am assuming that they have time to do that type of work. I don’t.

The advantage of using that approach would be that multiple parties could contribute programming skills etc. to the effort. It takes too long for just one person do accomplish very much.

One of the projects for that proposed Web site would be the creation of an area that discussed various earthquake precursors and their reliability or lack of reliability.

An active CGI program on another part of the Web site would make it possible for people around the world to submit precursor data that could be displayed and stored at the Web site.

Another section of the Web site would be used to do research on earthquake triggering processes etc.

And, if someone such as yourself wanted to devote a section to making and keeping track of forecasts then that would be possible as well.

I know how to create those types of resources myself now. But I don’t have time to create and run those complex CGI programs. Nor is that necessary. There are sizeable numbers of expert programmers out there who could assist with the effort. It is largely a matter of locating them and then getting them organized. But to do that you first need to have a Web site up and running.

My own present Web site would not be appropriate for that as it is largely for personal use and will likely eventually be used for other research projects besides forecasting earthquakes.

Once again, government efforts along these lines are totally inadequate. So the private sector needs to get something accomplished. I was just stunned when I read the report below that discussed things that went wrong with that tsunami related nuclear power incident in Japan!

These are personal opinions.
