Re: Recent Alaska and Papua New Guinea Earthquakes – nothing |
Roger, I only have time to address one of the topics in your posting. And I hope that Newsgroup visitors will remember my comments on this and not bring the matter up again. If you want proof that I am a scientist then just take a look at all of the data and computer programs and technology available at my Web site including a custom built bulletin board. Who would you think has the ability to do that type of work, an elementary school child? And, why would anyone go through all of that trouble if not for a very serious reason such as possibly saving some lives. Next, Roger, what planet have you been living on during the past few decades? Haven’t you ever heard of “Identity Theft ???” In my opinion, anyone who circulates any personal information at all on the Internet when that is not absolutely necessary is just begging to have his or her identity stolen! Just last Saturday I had a talk with someone whom I have known for a while. And he told me that at one point he had to be taken to the hospital for several days. While there one of his “friends” had his wallet in his possession. And during just those few days with just the limited amount of information in his wallet his “friend” stole his identity and got him into all kinds of trouble with financial groups. He still has attorneys working for him today, trying to clear up all of the financial problems he has encountered. Going further, I would strongly recommend against any person ever using his or her own full name as part of an E-mail address unless that is absolutely necessary for business reasons etc. Nor should personal names be used on Web sites, in bulletin board posts, in Newsgroup posts, or anywhere else on the Internet when that can be avoided. I would even recommend against anyone even including his or her name or other personal types of information within an E-mail letter, and certainly not on any of those popular social Web sites. When you send someone an E-mail, they usually already know who you are. And if they don’t then they likely have no right to or need for that information. I think that it is highly likely that when a person does circulate personal information on the Internet including his or her name, the only reason he or she is able to do that without having his or her identity stolen is because the thieves are after bigger game. They don’t have time to pay any attention to that person unless they already know that he or she is quite wealthy etc. For anyone reading this, if you think that this is being overly cautious then fine. But if you do eventually get your identity stolen because you circulated personal information on the Internet then you can’t say that no one ever warned you! The popular saying is that “A fool and his money are soon parted.” That saying didn’t come into existence by accident.
