Just a correction - Japan's problems are due to the Tsunami, not the earthquake.. a minor distinction - the tsunami WAS predicted - and expected, they just didn't expect one that big..

There wouldn't be the deaths in the third world countries we see if they had better buildings - proper construction would prevent earthquake deaths in impoverished countries.
