Stirring the pot... |
I don't know if there is any cause to be concerned or not - but seeing as we've had some rather interesting earthquake sequences in the southern sierra region (coso, pine flat, ridgecrest area) I began wondering about Lake Isabella and the earthen dam they have. It drains down the Kern river, a very popular camping and river rafting area, right on down to Bakersfield. I've been trying to find information on just how secure that dam might be in the event of a good 7+ quake in the area - it would be most disconcerting to those that live in Bakersfield and I'm sure the rafters would get the white water ride of their lives if anything did happen there. I wasn't able to find any info about the hazard or what size quake the dam can theoretically handle. Canie Follow Ups: ● Re: Stirring the pot... - Petra Challus 20:23:05 - 6/5/2001 (7882) (0) |
