where is Canie?

Hi Canie, your page is getting some heavy use. You know a lot about quakes and geology; chime in please.

Also, I've been thinking I could send you a check to support part of your costs for running this page. If you have my email, email me a mailing address and say how much you spend on this site each year (not your time; just the costs.)

Also: I have done about 50 posts related to the quake. I've been thinking that I might have used that time (a lot of time) more effectively. My friend Leonardo Seeber wrote a commentary for CNN.com. I could do that. But, his commentary is not very visible; my comments could be see by more people here on Earthwaves. I'm curious about traffic here since the quake. For Haiti, there was data that I could work with on offshore structure, and I participated in a research cruise. Here, I can't really contribute to the geology: it is well understood and studied by many.

I'm curious about comments from any of us. Are we just talking to ourselves? Or, are we helping filter information for some number of "lurkers" (readers who do not post).

Beth made some useful suggestions on my posts: to explain WHY there could not be a M9 quake south of Mendocino in California.

Chris
