Irritatingly ignorant and counterproductive |
Some of us watched a youtube of his CNN interview yesterday and were appalled. While earthquakes can trigger other earthquakes, and even distant earthquakes at a very low rate, this idea of 4 quadrants of the Pacific, with a pregnant gap along the US coast, is nonsense. The Pacific plate is not spinning anomalously fast as a whole, and even if it where, we would not see the current pattern of earthquakes as a result. People famous as authors should not be interviewed as though they understand science unless they do, which was not the case here.
