"Myth # 1. It is absolutely safe to drill for oil in deep water! And anyone who suggests otherwise is a politically incorrect alarmist who should be muzzled." Non sequitur. It is not "absolutely safe" to drill for oil ANYWHERE. There is a non-zero risk no matter where you drill. "Myth # 2. Earthquakes can't be predicted. They are completely random events. Every scientist on the planet agrees with that."
Non sequitur. There are indeed scientists who believe earthquakes can be predicted. Keilis-Borok, for example. "Myth # 3. Nuclear power plants are now so safe that nothing could ever happen to cause an accident."
Non sequitur. NOTHING can be made accident proof. BTW, it's obvious you cut&pasted those myths from somewhere else. The open and close quotes came through on my browser in unrecognized unicode, and that happens a lot, for example, when someone cut&pastes a news article form a website to a forum. I see it a lot.
Finally, you really should try reading other's posts on this forum. I have been researching and posted on the details of the problems at the Fukushima generating plant. Brian
