The link says, as of 5:43 AM Pacific time, their prediction of tsunami heights for southern California are smaller than 1 m. Note that Pt Conception through Malibu face south and are partly protected by large islands. The prediction for south-Central Califoria is around 1 m, with one harbor being 7.1 feet = 2+ m. It seems that in the past predictions for one place do not apply that well to nearby places, no doubt in part due to local offshore bathymetry. Chris |
