A Major Update For My Earthquake Forecasting Web Site January 2, 2011

All of the Chart-A and Year Chart files can now be downloaded from that Web page.

When those files are stored in and then extracted to the computer user’s C:\Forecast directory they will let the user duplicate my Chart-A and Year Chart files. The user can then focus in on different time periods, display earthquakes with different magnitudes, and see how changing factors such as the magnitude range of the earthquakes in the database file being used to display the data improve or degrade the accuracy of the data being displayed.

The Help and ReadMe files are in need of some significant updates. When everything is done, government earthquake researchers around the world should be able to focus in on their own approaching earthquakes. They can do that now using those existing files. But updated Help files will make that easier. At the moment they will need to experiment with the program when it is running to see how the different features work.

So, in my opinion, people around the world now have a way to predict their own earthquakes to some extent if they are interested in doing that. And I plan to try to update those Chart-A forecasting files as often as possible.

The downloadable freeware Etdprog.exe earthquake forecasting program runs best on a Windows PC that has at least 1.3 gigabytes of free memory. It will actually run with any amount of memory. But, with lesser amounts than that, Windows might have to use virtual memory at times to run the program. And that can slow things quite a bit.
