Earthquake Forecasting Computer Program Downloads December 18, 2010 |
Earthquake Forecasting Computer Program Downloads December 18, 2010 Recent somewhat experimental updates for the Etdprog.exe earthquake forecasting computer program are now being made available at one of my Web sites for downloads. They can be accessed through the following Web page:
The goal here is to make it possible for earthquake forecasters and researchers around the world to use the same programs and files that I myself am using with my forecasting and research work. People can then try to predict their own local earthquakes. I don’t have time to watch for earthquakes that are occurring everywhere on the planet. What people can do is create a directory named: C:\Forecast\ on their computer. Then the self-extracting files can be downloaded and stored in that directory. Those exe files can be run by double clicking on the individual files which will then extract their contents to that Forecast directory where the Etdprog.exe program will run. There is also a Windows batch file included on the Web page. When it is stored in the Forecast directory and double clicked it directs all of the self-extracting files to run one after another. I compare notes with earthquake researchers around the world. And it is sad to say that I believe that my forecasting program probably represents about the only hope that many people around the world of having of receiving any warning at all that a destructive earthquake could be headed their way. With these download files they should be able to better focus in on possible approaching seismic activity in the locations where they live than they can by simply studying the Chart-A files or my Data.html Web page. At the present time one of the main limitations of these new download files is the fact that the documentation files for how to run the recent versions of the Etdprog.exe program and interpret the data are not current. However, now that the basic directory structure and download and file extraction procedures have been developed, some time will be devoted to updating the various help and documentation files. Newer versions of those downloadable files are scheduled to be stored on my Web site within a few hours of the time this present report is posted to the EarthWaves site. |
