With all this talk about the Elsinore and San Jacinto fault zones, another area worth looking at is where that 3.0 hit today east of LA near the Whittier and Elsinore faults. This is the same area that had that 5.6 quake 2 years ago and aliged closely with the 4.4. back in March that had no aftershocks. What is interesting to me is that up to a year ago this area has not had a lot of if any 3+ quakes and now a few. AND geometrically speaking, they actually line up in a linear way with the quakes and fault zone from the Easter Sunday quake. So my theory suggests that perhaps there is a 200+ mile linear path of stress that stretches from LA down through Mexico but only the Mexico part broke leave the segment to the north of it in a gap of sorts. One has to wonder if a quake ruptured on the Elsinore fault soon would rip all the way up to LA and on to the Whittier fault. Not a prediction, as even though I feel my theory could be true I could not repeat this observation anytime soon or anywhere else.
