Hi Canie, just got off ship and in high rise hotel in Istanbul 15 km from North Anatolian fault. Hope there is not too much sand in the concrete.
The location and strike-slip motion look consistent with the Palos Verdes fault are something near it. There have been some models floating around that slip on the Palos Verdes fault terminates into a E-W fault along Redondo Canyon. That model is wrong; it does not even make sense. The Palos Verdes fault contines NW into Santa Monica Bay but seems to split up and die out...but over a couple 10s of km.
