Re: Volcano Eruption |
Wait a minute, the air traffic started being disrupted again in northern Great Britain on May 16; the volcano did not resume its eruption then. The ash does not suddenly appear in Great Britain the same moment it is erupted. I believe (but could be wrong) that this ash is below 6 km elevation so below the jet stream so it takes a day to several days to cross the east Atlantic. The ash was affecting Spain and other southern areas last week, so, the eruption has been going all along; it is the wind patterns that changed. If you know a good web site that monitors the eruption levels, you could link to it here. Actually, most seismologists (which I am not) and many interested geologists (which I am) would agree that a large earthquake could affect relatively nearby volcanic eruptions. Some would at least consider that large earthquake could have some affect on more distant eruptions. It might be an interesting discussion for the group to go into more depth on that. As for "Off Topic" (O/T) posts: Canie runs this page but in the past she has not had problems with some level of posts like that. It just has to be somewhat limited, and Canie has requested that they be labeled "O/T", which I did. It would, for example, be OK for you to post what your background is, why you are interested in earthquakes. Chris Follow Ups: ● Re: Volcano Eruption - EQF 06:54:28 - 5/17/2010 (77052) (0) |
