1. Do you work in the earth sciences field professionally?

Nope. But I think it'd be fun. Well, mostly. Too much politics and paperwork. I'd rather be out in the field digging up rocks. That is, if I were in the earth sciences. There are a lot of other fields I'm interested in, but they all include paperwork and politics.

2. If so, or if not, what is your connection to, or interest in, earthquakes?

I live in SoCal!!! The idea of "The Big One" used to scare me senseless. Then I started feeling moderate to large ones and started learning. I'm not so afraid any more. Homo Sapiens scares me more than the San Andreas.

3. If you care to share, what do you do professionally?

Unfortunately, I'm in management, and I'm learning I hate it with a passion. But the economy being what it is, I have little hope of getting out easily.

4. What is your most significant seismic experience?

Gee, that's hard to say. I've lividly experienced Whittier Narrows, Landers, Northridge, and Hector Mine. There's a few others, of course. They are all different and I learned different things form each experience. Whittier Narrows made me realize just how much a plate glass window can bend without breaking. Landers and Hector Mine taught me how to "land surf". Northridge was probably the scariest since it had such strong motions.

5. Is there anything else you would like the board to know?

Hobbies: Astronomy is my longest love. If I could back, I'd have gone to school and been and astrophysicist. I am also interested in almost any science, especially theoretical work. I went to school for electronics engineering but didn't finish the degree, although I worked in the field for a few years. After years of reading several forums I have a growing general interest in how people think and how they come to believe the things they do. I also enjoy making music. I play guitar and keyboard and have a mini studio. I'm no Eddie Van Halen or Beethoven, but it's fun. I have a Harley. I have long hair, which you can see in my avatar on my forums. I also enjoy hiking but never get to go since no one I know will go with me. I'd go alone, but there's too many weird Homo Sapiens out there.

I enjoy this board. I find it's a good mix of folks.
