Re: Haiti earthquake |
I just checked and there are 2000 km of Western Geco seismic reflection data in coastal Haiti. I'm now downloading 2 gigabytes of .tar files. This is acoustic data that should image the faults down to 6 or 8 seconds two way travel time. In the best imaging situations (sedimentary basin) you might be able to image to the equivalent of 6 or 8 km depth. The question is whether I should spend any time on this, when I need to get the California work done. Also, should I make images of the faults and link them from here? the question is whether working with the Haiti data will actually do them any good. Not obvious how. the basemap from the USGS site is linked.
