There are weird clouds and there are earthquakes and sometime they occur on the same day and sometime they don't. There are publications on atmospheric efects after earthquakes; whether these could affect clouds I don't know. I know that I was watching TV of Northridge aftershocks and there were big dust clouds almost right away and at first I did not see how that was possible until I heard a talk later about the extent of (dry) landslides in the Santa Susana Mountains. Dust could cause clouds to nucleate if the humidity was high enough, which it was not. I saw a thunderstorm form over a fire in the Santa Barbara County backcountry maybe 15 years ago. But, the "earthquake" clouds that I have seen posted are not explained by any of this I think. They are just clouds. Chris
