Re: Susan Hough's new book |
Well---that will be up to Susan. The difficulty of dealing with people who are truly amateurs is that they don't accept some mathematical, etc. analysis...or the need for repeatable data. There is also a hard-wired tendency in human beings to see patterns where none exist, and re-vamp data to suit our memories. Anybody interested in this should read a book called "The Black Swan." I remember trying to have a discussion with somebody (who seemed intelligent) who really believed that the world was created in 4004 BC...and thought that Satan planted all evidence to the contrary to test our faith. You cannot disprove stuff like that to anybody. I think that ANYBODY, amateur or not, who could predict a sizable earthquake (not an aftershock) on several occasions (Susan mentions 3 times in another context) within reasonable boundaries of geography, magnitude and time would definitely be given a ton of attention. So far---as far as I know--nobody has done that.
