Nope. What happens at Summer Field STAYS at summer field. But the geologists and beer link seems totally proven to me. We used to drive from spots in Utah over to a liquor store in Nevada for provisions--and that after a 15 hour day working in the hot sun...we had such minimal personal equipment that coolers (not to mention ice) were at a premium. I also found out quickly that guarding your beer stash was essential. In addition, of course, we had some more sophisticated professor types who kept their vodka in bottles labeled "Dog Water." One very classy prof from New Zealand had good scotch if you kept on his good side. We once sat and sang songs from the Mikado on Paleozoic archaeocyathid reefs. I know, I know...you had to be there. As for the rest, I plead the fifth. Wait---there was this bar in Dyer, Nevada...we sometimes slid in there for some cold beer at the end of the week. The main people were hard core bikers and geologists. I wished that some of our female students wouldn't wear such miniscule outfits, but the bikers enjoyed them. They had knives, we had rock hammers...fortunately, never had to use either. Did have to shove one drunk out of the car and make a quick getaway when he decided that he really really wanted one of our ladies... UH, ok. Nobody was hurt or arrested and we learned a LOT! Memories. I'm getting teary-eyed. Also remembered that I was married, which limited things...and once had to kick two very very hot young guys out of my tent. They thought that I, as an old married woman, could teach them something. I DID teach them something, i.e., that they were really very drunk; and the way back to their own sleeping bags. Ah well. Yeah, it comes back!!!
