Re: New book by Susan Hough is out |
Most of what I have read so far describes 'real' prediction efforts, what the hopes were and how they failed. There are a few chapters that slowly grow towards the 'fringe' element. Some of the ideas are only glossed over in generalities with no names mentioned, but four amateurs are mentioned by name. From the acknowledgments page: "I am further indebted to a number of individuals outside the mainstream scientific community who have been willing to engage in a dialog: in particular Petra Challus, Don Eck, Zhonghou Shou, and Brian Vanderkolk (known in earthquake prediction circles as Skywise). I am not sure they will be entirely happy with what I have to say. I hope they, and others, will see the book as critical but fair..." So yes, I get some small mention for the prediction game I had run on my website. And, I do agree that it was a fair assessment of the individuals. I am still not done reading, but I do find it interesting that a particular person get's no mention at all - JOB.
