writing fast |
I'm not putting O/T on writing posts because writing is a big part of being a research scientist. Back last summer, I wrote a non-reviewed extended abstract of 4 printed pages including 4 figures in 1 day (12 or 14 hours), and it was really not bad, although I better read it again. If I write slowly, a couple hours here and then a couple hours 2 weeks later, I lose track of what I am writing and it ends up with problems. HD (Heartland daughter) wrote one of her best stories for a class in about 1 hour while we were traveling for a holiday: the professor said to her that he liked it so well that he showed it to his wife. HD also entered one of those volume writing contest (50,000 words in some period of time), which I always assumed woould result in junk, but maybe I am wrong. HW is trying to write a scientific paper spending 1 hour every now and then. I suggested she try and find a couple of days and just write it fast. Comments from the professional writer (Cathryn) ?
