M6.6 near Great Sumatra fault |
The M6.6 was very close to the right-lateral Great Sumatra fault, and the focal mechanism is consistent with right-lateral on that fault. So, not in same place or on same fault as the 7.6 that preceded it. This is very likely a triggered quake, which some here call a FFA (Far field aftershock).
