As long as you keep two copies of everything important. Personally, I probably go for overkill. I buy multiples of the same make/model drive. Then, with the software I mentioned I clone the entire disk. They are exact copies byte-by-byte. To do this, though, is a bit involved. I have to pull the main drive and put it in as the secondary. The backup drive is the third. Then, I install a special "maintenance" drive I have to boot from. That way I am not trying to clone an active disk. Windows doesn't like it when you do that. But since I have to use these three drives, that means I have to pull any other drives I may have installed as well. THAT is why they are all in removable drive bays.
