We didn't use GPS systems in the old days! We were REAL (hehe) geologists who used maps and compasses.

As I recall, the rock was a stromatolite...Stan Aramik...I think that was the name of the guy who had the rock. That was a lot of years ago.

I find very old rocks to be a religious experience. In Ouray, Colorado, went down "black canyon" and touched the 1.5 billion rock there. Wow...
