Precursors |
Hi Beth, I have come to the conclusion that any given fault structure may have its own precursors to large earthquakes, but you would have to be 100,000 years old (and understood what those were) to make a reasonably accurate prediction. Maybe snakes do come out of the ground in China before an earthquake on a given fault, but can we apply that precusory activity to other faults in different geologic conditions on separated tectonic plates? I think not. Is there a single, one of a kind precursor for all earthquakes? Maybe. But it has not been found as yet. I'll leave the possibility open. Not holding my breath.
