I'm right here. Thanks for asking about me. I wish I could say I was working on a new novel, but life intervened.

Just a quickie to bring you up to date, as it hurts to sit at the
computer:

I'm sending this from a hospital bed in a rehab facility after
having spent ten days in the Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. On
January 19th, I was in a freak horseback
riding accident that resulted in me breaking my back. It was a bad
break, with a crushed vertebrae at L1. I had to have a three-level
fusion with hardware. Giving birth was less painful than the first
few days after my surgery, and I'd thought I would never have to
experience that kind of pain again. I'm glad my pain is now
manageable with some heavy duty pills. Whee!

So, I am learning how to walk again. I cannot twist my torso at all,
can't bend down, can't bend over, can't do a lot of things I used to
take for granted. My break dancing days are over.

I will have to be on pain meds for a long time, as the recovery will
take 3-6 months. I may send out emails that won't make any sense. (Or
maybe they will... I've always had a strange outlook on life and a
twisted sense of humor, as most of you know.)

Anyway, this is just to alert you that I'm in a state of recovery and
will be for some time.

Please, no candles or wheels.
