big full moon |
I was watching the full moon a half hour and more after it had risen, and it seemed on the large size, when the woman on the national news said that indeed it is brightest of the year tonight. Therefore, must be closest to earth. I imagine this must enhance earth tides and ocean tides, but (as has been the case other times with close moons), I don't see anything unusual in the quake list (although yesterday the list shows successive quakes in Yellowstone, Long Valley/Mammoth, and SE Missouri (list shows all 2.5 and above quakes for the USA, but only larger for some part of the world). The SE Missouri quake, like several in the last year or 2 between M 2.5 and 3, was not within the New Madrid belts of seismicity: was rather far off to the NW, where there is a diffuse historical seismicity.
