Artic eruption

Mike...your tone and language are both "off" on your replied to Barbara (and this is from someone who has been known to rant on this page).

Gary, it is fine to express an opinion on this page but better if you also consider the opinions of people who are trained in the field: there are volcanic eruptions at the sea floor all the time. Plate tectonics would not work without it. There is an oceanic spreading center in the Artic ocean. It would periodically have eruptions. These eruptions would have zero effect on the sea ice.

Of course we can have an effect on the climate. We are taking all the petroleum out of the ground that took 100 million years to deposit,a nd we are burning it. We know how much we burn, and we know from chemistry how much CO2 that would produce. We measure that CO2 (since about 1950). We know how much CO2 was in the atmosphere for the last 1 million years from bubbles in Antarctic ice cores.

I agree with Mike's sentiments in his reply to you.
Don't get me started...I have a deep level of frustration with this nonsense.
Chris
