Hi All. Once again there is acceleration in creep for the Bay Area. I don't think the 3.3Ml off the coast of northern Calif. is associated with the creep. First of all there is just too great of a distance between the two. The other is I don't think the quake was large enough to create a back up in creep that would extend all the way back to the Bay Area. If that were the case it seems to me that there would have been some kind of an indication with the strain data. There isn't any. It also appears that the creep along the southern end of Hayward is at the surface as there haven't been any small quakes at any depth associated with the creep. The northern end of the Hayward fault appears to be creeping from the top of the fault all way down to bottom. This is indicated by small microquakes along this portion of the fault. This has been going on for a number of years. At any rate it has been noted and printed out. Take Care…Don in creepy town.
