My opinion is that we fairly well know that there will be a large quake here in SoCal. To me it is VERY useful to understand what the ramifications will be. It would be foolish, given the history of quakes here, to assume that it will not happen. My mind is open, but as yet I have not seen a replicable methodology for predicting quakes in So Cal. This is the problem on some of the other EQ forums regarding real science. Thousands of predictions have been made without results. Science is finding a solution to a problem, and then allowing peers to repeat the solution. Some people just can't get that.

As a side note...Any of those fires up around your neck of the woods? That Humbolt fire sounds serious...and some fire fighters have been over run, again. Hope the best for them...
