Thanks for the note, Chris. As John suggests (post below yours), the cause and effect problem would not be resolved by looking for such a correlation as you propose. At least, I don't think it would. Since one would still not know if the correlation was due to the pore pressure increase or the load. Unless the time-lag involved for pore-pressure increase at depth has been figured out and is of such length as to rule it out as a cause for the short period (1- or 3-month) you suggest.
