Micro-saturation

Howdy,

Not sure what it means, but there have been a ton of micros popping off down here since the Mexicali swarm. I see some are over by Salton City on the SAF, but those are fairly shallow. Seems like I have seen more than this before.

On Saturday I hiked up to a new Earthscope station which is about a half mile away from the house. This looks like a PBO GPS ground station, and it is fairly new. My boy Mike (we are doing a lot of hikes now) thought it was for measuring seismicity, but I don't think so. Its on a deeply seated tripod with a 1 foot hood on the top. There is also a box with a solar power panel and a tv (looking)antannae situated nearby. Anyway, we checked it out, and went rock hounding on the way back down to the house. Found a really good sample of mica, which he kept.

When we got home, I showed him on the computer all the GPS maps, and a bit how they work. His favorite is the Hector Mine map. Now he wants to do his school science report on all this. You don't think I baited a future geologist, do you?
He loves it. Best part, is he is doing really good in math. (Got that from his mom, I'm sure)
