Article about daily tide effect |
Hi all; Interesting article about tides and earth tremors. Tiny tremors which increase at high tide and decrease at low tide, which was the opposite of what Vidale found. My guess is that two different things are involved. The tremors are a response to increased loading, much as a chair creaks when you sit on it. The Vidale effect of increased seismicity at low tide on thrust faults would be from the accumulated plate movement strain. But I'm just guessing....
