These Santa Anas are unusually strong, even for Santa Anas. I read a Discussion of them before they started on tne NWS website. May have nothing to do with the following: The Oct 9 issues of EOS, Transactions AGU has an article on California temperatures with graph from about 1950 to about 2000. It has been trending strongly upward since early 70s. Looks like it is almost 1 deg C, which is more than the global increase. This is due to all causes: the effect of urbanization is not removed. But, the authors say the effect is larger than can be explained by natural cycles, and that it is also occuring in adjoining area, suggesting it is related to greenhouse gasses and not urbanization. I still have not see (nor looked for) what warming is modeled to do to the California current. Chris
