Good morning: I do my pre-work check of quakes and there are quakes everywhere: a swarm of 6+s in the Loyalty Islands (21-23 S, 169 E). Then, in the last hour, a 7.7 in the Volcano Islands, Japan, 8 M4+ quakes in Central California and offshore Bay area near the San Gregorio fault...a 4.1 in Hawaii, and a 3.1 in southern California. I have some doubts about whether all the California quakes actually occurred, as all the information is not up yet on the USGS page.
I'll have to check news and then the USGS page in an hour and see what is going on.
Hmm...the map at USGS looks rather different than the SCEC map: the SCEC map has 2 quakes South of Golden Gate and the USGS map does not have these...it has one in Oakland...and maybe smaller than 4. You click on some of the quakes as listed and the quake does not come up...
