Zaca fire

There was a half day off from the meeting so I rented a car and took a couple of participants on a bit of a geologic tour. Went up along the crest of the Santa Ynez Mountains and had views of the vast area burned by the Zaca fire...a quarter million acres and not completey out yet after about 2 months. Most of the wilderness north of Santa Barbara burned. From the new firebreaks on the Santa Ynez Mountains and each ridge down the north slope, they were obviously concerned at one time that it would climb the Santa Ynez mountains and then come down the mountain at Goleta and Santa Barbara, which could have been a disaster of there were strong north winds. But, with all the area north of the Santa Ynez River burned, it is not likely from this fire at least. Chris
