I meant inside LA, like the SFV down to Long Beach where I was under impression there was a magnitude cap. Yeah, outside of that area, Tehachapi and Desert, for sure there can and were stronger quakes. And to rephrase what I meant in my last post, I meant that the deficit was proposed in the mid 90s, i.e. that there should be many and on going 6 quakes IN the LA metro area and then that theory was taken away. This latest article from Canie suggests the theory is back, but also now says the LA metro area could have bigger quakes.
