Roger...of course it would be a higher peak if you allowed aftershocks. That does not mean that having a high peak for >1000 km is insignificant. Why would there be higher numbers on day 1 if the average was every few days? I understand why it would drop off after a few days...but if it was random the first few days should be fairly flat, shouldn't they? Your numbers are not flat for first few days. Is it something like...if there is an average 5 days...it means you would expect more on day 1 and less on day 10 to get average 5? I still don't understand this...
